Dr. Evelyn Laycock is the Director of the Lay Ministry Center for the Southeastern Jurisdiction Council, Lake Junaluska. This is Dr. Laycock's third career. Dr. Laycock is a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan where in 1995 she received the Alumnus of the Year Award, and of Emory and Henry where in 1996 she received The Distinguished Alumni Service Award. She holds both MDiv and DMin degrees from Emory University. Dr. Laycock is co-author of Awaken The Giant. Additional writings are church school publications and Disciplines. She is a faculty member of the Academy For Spiritual Formation. She also is listed in Who's Who In The South and Southeast.

She was elected lay delegate to the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 General and Jurisdictional Conferences. For eight years she was on the General Board of Discipleship, serving as secretary from 1988-1992.

Dr. Laycock is married to William A. Laycock, a retired United Methodist minister and college professor. They have three sons and three grandchildren.
